Halloween 2010

I love the movie Teen Witch (1989) about a girl named Louise Miller, who discovers she's a witch on her 16th birthday. So when this past Halloween rolled around, I thought, "I'll go at Teen Witch in her prom dress, of course". I styled the wig for one hour and made the dress in 4 hours, all the while pausing the DVD over and over to get a good look at her dress pattern. I used navy blue tulle, velvet ribbon trim, and some sort of stretch fleece/velvet/poly-rayon madness. My only regret is that I didn't get a picture that showed off the amazing shoulder pads. Next time.... And I you might notice I'm not wearing the amulet. Well, I didn't have time to make it, so I was Louise Miller after she gives up her powers to know if Brad really loves her for who she really is.

I highly recommend this movie for your viewing pleasure.

Leopard Print Dress

Rachel and I thought it was be fun to sew dresses to wear to our friend's housewarming party last Saturday night. I'd been working on a dress pattern recently and wanted to try it out, but the only fabric I had (enough of) was leopard print jersey from Michael Levine. I didn't get started sewing until a few hours before the party AND we still needed to decorate the cupcakes we were bringing that night, so time was scarce. Luckily, we're amazing. Rachel and I showed up with beautifully monogrammed mini cupcakes and looked fabulous. Here's a pic of the leopard dress I made. I'm most proud of the belt, because I made it in 5 minutes.

Cute Button

I found this button at the Dinosaur Farm in South Pasadena. I had to have it. The girl who makes these has a website, but it's still under construction. www.thebuttongirl.com
